Growing up with the “Dawn is slow, Dusk is rapid” thought in my mind, I reached the age of 19 always in a hurry to achieve. Looking back to where I came from, I realized how so left out I am.
And I always end up asking myself, isn’t it ironic how I experienced drinking alcohol at the time when my peers were done enjoying it? Why I am still unable to go to Manila by myself and why my parents always have to do even the simplest chores for me? When in fact, I lead an almost ten thousand population of students in Lyceum of the Philippines University. I got face to face with both the small and big names in the country. I organize this and that but at the end of the day, am I really productive?
Nineteen years is long enough. Maybe I should focus on the basic. Or maybe, i just have to stop for a while for me to finally move forward.

I am Raphael Junio Balbaboco. Most of my friends call me Pael, but some would make fun of me and call me by my surname. I am a junior Communication student at First Asia Institute in Tanauan City, Batangas. At home, I spend most of my time sleeping or listening to Lady Gaga, Owl City, Secondhand Serenade and Coldplay.
I have three siblings and all of them are girls. Growing up, I was and up to now a lola’s boy. She spoiled me too much and kinda grew up with the fact that I cannot live without her. Or rather, I should say that she is my life.
My weight is slightly inversely proportional than my height. Seriously, I love photography, especially when I have the chance to use DSLRs. But I also do good with digicams. I love writing features, especially when I use the Filipino medium. I also sing. I am one of those undiscovered shower talents.
I think I can also dance. I am heavy but dancing is easy-breezy. I am in love with America’s Next Top Model. I blog a lot on Tumblr, almost every day. I enjoy hanging out with friends. (Let me go random.) I have a big fear of clowns. They are freaky as hell. I am a big Glee fan. I follow almost all cast on Twitter but ironically, I do not tweet a lot.

Yeah, that’s me. For 18 years of my existence in this so-called Earth, I still feel shy whenever I meet new people. I’m Shela. I think that is what the first letter of my name stands for— “S” for “shyness.” And I’m getting tired of always stammering in front of others, of feeling my sweat running down my cheeks as if I am taking a bath (Yikes!). For a pessimist, I’m pretty optimistic, the song goes. And that bests describe my personality, derailed.
I am one of those who are often misunderstood, often ignored and less appreciated. But hey. I’m not suicidal. I live my life how I wanted it and I don’t care if I’m misunderstood, ignored and less appreciated. Although this is a cruel world, I live happily.
am a book worm. I can spend a whole day reading a book. I love reading Stephen King horrors and suspense, but on the contrary, I also love fantasy such as the Harry Potter series. But being a book worm, any book will do. Just not Precious Hearts or Twilight.
I also love music. As the most redundant saying goes, music is life. And yes. Music indeed is life. I go crazy when I hear my favorite song. I go oh-la-la when I see my favorite musician. Who doesn’t, anyway? I also love making music. I write songs once in a while. But since I’m not gifted with a singing voice, it’s only for me to hear.
Well that’s it. As life goes, maybe I’ll be back in the railway.
